Acupuncture

A system of complementary medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles, used to alleviate pain and to treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West.

Based on the principle that there is a pattern of energy flow through the body in 12 channels, called meridians, and that the body is healthy if there is no interruption of these normal patterns of flow – acupuncture is both a system of diagnosis and treatment.

During the diagnosis step a determination is made about which of the meridians has either an excess or deficiency of the flow of energy (referred to as “Chi”) and from this the treatment plan is created which will be comprised of a series of acupuncture points to be stimulated.  By stimulating the correct points the flows in the meridians can be balanced and by doing so the body is permitted to move back toward normal function.

Chiropractic and Acupuncture

Chiropractic and Acupuncture both address a similar situation in the body which is that there is something which is interfering with the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Chiropractic addresses this by removing the interference to normal nerve communication between the brain and the body.

Acupuncture addresses this by balancing the flow of energy in the meridian systems.

These two treatment methods work very well together when it is determined they are needed and we are pleased to let you know that we now offer acupuncture services at the Bolick Clinic in addition to Chiropractic services.
